TGI SUNDAY

What is TGI Sunday?

It’s Church – but not as we normally know it. We move the pews out of the centre of the Church and put in chairs and tables. We drink coffee, read the papers, and worship together in a more relaxed way than normal.

Is it just for children and families?

Whilst TGI Sunday is great for kids and their parents, it also has fans amongs older people – and the ages range from babes in arms through to very “mature” people. Here are some of the comments we have received from all age groups:

“… Films were very good … we enjoy this TGI so much, we all want more”

“… bring back the puppets … more cakes!!”

Do you have a sermon?

Not usually – instead of a sermon we find different ways of learning the Christian message – so far we have had a puppet theatre, DVDs, and a mini drama. Often the children from Bacon Butty Club take part – either with a song or something they have prepared.

What does TGI Sunday stand for?

It’s short for Thank God It’s Sunday, on the basis that we are thanking God for giving us time and space to worship Him on a Sunday. We don’t think God will mind us using His name like that – in fact we think He will be more than happy that we are meeting together to worship Him.

Is TGI Sunday just for a trial period?

The trial period is over – TGI Sunday is now the best attended service in East Hoathly Church each month, so it is clear that there is a need for this sort of informal worship.

When is it?

The fourth Sunday of every month at 11 a.m. (but come earlier and enjoy coffee and cakes!)

Why not come and join us?
